LED Strip Light Info at a Glance:

LED strips come in spools of 16.4 ft. (5 m).
offers 3 different levels of Waterproofing: IP30, IP65, and IP68.
LED Strips can be Single or Multi Colored.

LED Strips have 2 different LED sizes:
3528 and 50503528 LED’s measure 35x28 mm and only display one color.
5050 LED’s measure 50x50 mm, are brighter than 3528’s, and can be single or multi colored.
LED Strips come in Regular and High Density.
High Density LED Strips include twice as many LED’s as Regular LED Strips. This makes for a brighter and smoother lighting effect.

1. Determining the Waterproofing your LED Strips require

offers 3 different levels of waterproofing for our LED Strip lights. The ideal waterproof level depends on where the strip will be used.

IP30: Dry, Indoor

IP30

For dry, indoor environments, recommends our IP30 Bare LED Strips.
IP30 LED Strips are not protected against water, and are typically used for lighting under stairs, cupboards, etc.

  IP65: Humid, Indoor/Outdoor

IP65 Strip

For humid environments, recommends our IP65 Silicon Covered LED Strips.
IP65 LED Strips are weatherproof, and are suitable for locations such as bathrooms, building exteriors, etc.

  IP67: Fully Waterproof

IP67 Strip

For very wet environments, recommends our IP68 Silicon Sleeved LED Strips.

IP68 LED Strips are fully waterproof, and are typically used in swimming pools, saunas, etc.

2. What Color LED Strip do you need?

LED Density

While our Regular Density Strips typically meet most lighting demands, some projects demand brighter and more even lighting effects. For these more demanding projects, offers a High Density option for both LED sizes (Available in Cool and Warm White, both IP30 and IP65 Waterproofing). High Density spools include 2x the LED’s per 5m spool, but can be slightly more difficult to connect to power supplies.

Regular Density 300 LED’s per spool 150 LED’s per spool
High Density 600 LED’s per spool 300 LED’s per spool

4. Determine the length and how to cut the strip light

Standard LED strips have a length of 16.4 ft and contain a number of series and parallel connected LEDs. This design enables you to cut the strip every fixed number of LEDs; the places where the strip can be cut are clearly marked on the strip. Cut‐off parts of the strips are not wasted as it is possible to solder new power supply wires to these cut‐off parts, or we also sell connectors that will connect cut strips together.

5. Which accessories will help your LED Strip project?

Power Adapters
Power Adapters are required to use any LED Strip. Depending on the amount of Wattage your Strip lights require, offers Power Adapters which produce 24, 30, 60, and 150 watts. The power adapter you need will also depend on the LED size in your strip.

Extensions/Connecters/Amplifiers
LED Strip Extension Wires and Connecters are used to connect separate LED Strips for use with the same controller and/or power supply.
It is important when connecting LED strips to add up the required power, and make sure your power adapter has a high enough output. If you need more power for your additional LED strips, offers an Easy-Plug Amplifier. This special connector includes a power receiver so the additional strip can have its own power adapter.
